The United Kingdom government have announced their intention to scrap the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). This would allow the United Kingdom to regain country over its own fishing waters. It comes as the EU begin to feel the shock of the UK’s departure.
As it currently stands, the United Kingdom is in a transition until the end of the year with the EU. After the transition, the United Kingdom, under Boris Johnson, will take back full and unlimited control of the United Kingdom’s fishing waters. Importantly, this means EU vessels will no longer be able to purge UK coastlines for its fish.
The French, Romanians and other members states of the EU have been known for coming close to the United Kingdom’s waters and purging our fish. The UK has some of the largest territorial fishing waters in the entire European Union. It’s likely the French will be gutted that they can no longer purge our coastline of fish.
