The United Kingdom Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has announced changes that will take place to the UK immigration policy. It comes as the United Kingdom prepares to leave the EU.
The United Kingdom will repeal the European Communities Act of 1972, by doing this it will take full control over UK borders. As it stands, the UK is part of the single market within the EU, this means the freedom of movement of people.
Boris Johnson has said there will be a new fairer immigration policy that will “put people before passports”. As it currently stands, the UK is part of the EU’s single market, this means that people can freely move and work within the UK. There has been a lot of criticism, especially as UK public services are being squeezed.
