Jacob Rees-Mogg has brilliantly slammed Diane Abbott and given her a very strong warning over Brexit. It comes as Diane faced a ‘very angry’ audience on Question Time over Labour’s attempts to keep the UK in a custom’s union and essentially remain in the European Union.
Mogg said: “People want to get out and they want their vote respected. It’s only in the political media world we inhabit that there’s this very strong desire to stop Brexit at any cost. I didn’t see Question Time because I was addressing the Nottingham Conservatives. And there again, it was 200/300 people, and all very strongly in favour of leaving.”
Jacob then had a very strong warning for Diane Abbot: “In Derby, the feeling is ‘we want to leave’. And somebody who’s seen as trying to frustrate that is inevitably going to get a difficult ride.” Those who favour leaving the European Union are increasingly beginning to feel as though the politicians are ‘betraying’ the vote and it is fuelling their anger.
