Diane Abbott has come under intense pressure on Radio 4 where she fails to answer a simple question in relation to the Labour party’s immigration policy. Diane Abbott has come under pressure before in the media when she failed to answer a simple question regarding policing numbers in London. Many people have now suggested that Dianne Abbott should ‘brush up’ on her facts and figures as her policy talk becomes unclear.
Speaking on Nick Robinson’s BBC Radio 4 Programme in relation to Labour’s immigration policy, she said:
“We want an immigration policy that is based on the needs of the economy, and that means being a skills-based immigration policy.
“Finally of course, we’re going to be closing Yarl’s Wood detention centre.”
Mr Robinson interrupted: “So what’s the answer to the question?”
Mr Robinson corrected: “No, the question was is immigration too high and is it the job of the next Labour Government to control it?”
Ms Abbott said: “We don’t believe in bogus targets – “
Mr Robinson repeated: “One last time, is immigration into this country too high, and do you think it’s the next job of the Government to control it?”
The Labour Shadow Home Secretary said: “We don’t believe in bogus targets, targets Theresa May still believes in, but Sajid Javid the Home Secretary does not.”
It seems that Diane Abbott is very confused about her party’s immigration policy. Many users on social media have vented their frustrations with the Labour party for not ‘coming clean’ on their immigration policy.
