There has been concerns raised regarding the Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, and his statements towards the Royal Family. It comes after Corbyn publicly stated that the Royal Family should be downsized, illustrating that Corbyn is not at all fond of the Queen, nor the Royal Family, as a whole.
Supporters’ of the Royal family have said that the Labour leader would eventually like to abolish the United Kingdom’s monarchy, and instead form a Republic. The British people are extremely happy with the United Kingdom’s monarchy, and generally do not favour an elected head of state over the Queen.
Corbyn and Diane Abbott, two of the most senior members’ of the Labour Party, are well and truly known for their anti Monarchy approach. It’s thought that Abbott and Corbyn would like to see the end of the Queen’s reign, and an end to the Monarchy as a whole after Her Majesty passes away.
Supporters were quick to hit back at Corbyn. A supporter of William and Kate said on social media that they would be “utterly offended” by Corbyn’s suggestions that the Monarchy should be scrapped in favour of a Republic. It’s clear, the British people support the Monarchy, and Corbyn’s opinion is not at all favoured.
