A national newspaper has reported that some Conservative MPs are plotting to change political party at the last minute, just as Boris Johnson would take reigns at number 10. Many have called the proposed plan by Tory rebel MPs as a ‘betrayal’.
It is thought that a handful of Conservatives may move over to the Liberal Democrats, under their possible new leader, Jo Swinson, the woman who is hoping to take over from Vince Cable as leader of the Liberal Democrats.
The Conservative MPs have been accused of blatant betrayal by their colleagues. The United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union in 2016, but, sadly, it has still not been delivered. It is now thought that remain Conservatives now want to overthrow Boris, before he’s even taken office.
Phillip Lee, MP, said not the Mail on Sunday newspaper: “Others might be happy to trash their political reputations in vain pursuit of personal gain.
“But a few of us still have the principle and enough courage to put our country first.
“I’m not sure how much longer the conservatism that I represent can cling on in the party.”
It’s now clear that Boris Johnson has a lot of hurdles to overcome if he wants to successfully take the United Kingdom out of the European Union on a no-deal Brexit. It’s hope that the UK will leave the EU in October, but that’s only if Boris can survive his own party.
